The company
policy on health and safety defines and applies the company’s dedication to
continually improving and maintaining the safety of its workers and the
protection of their health in the work place.
All is scrupulously carried out in respect of legal norms, contracts, procedures, and internal company regulations which govern the issues of safety, prevention, hygiene and health on work sites.
To enact this policy, METRONAPOLI uses its human, technical and financial resources, as well as the conviction that the protection of personnel health and safety is relevant as envisaged in the principles of the Articles of Incorporation, and coherent with its own Behavioural Code. The application of this policy at all levels of the organisation is considered an imperative.
The
definition of this policy and the subsequent identification of general
objectives- as well as those specific to a certain period- stem from careful
and objective analysis of the internal situation, from proven results and
actions to taken, as well as requests made by workers and interested parties.
Both the
policy and its objectives are systematically re-examined during all meetings
held by the COMMITTEE ON HEALTH, SAFETY AND THE ENVIRONMENT, in order to assess
its adequacy and the extent of its application and achievement. This group was created in January 2008 and is
presided over by the General Manager of Metronapoli.
The company
policy is applicable at all levels of the organisation, and is communicated and
transmitted to every employee.
This
however does not change the scope of responsibilities regarding work safety
which are attributed to the Offices of Technical Planning, Safety and the
Metropolitan Environment, the Cable Railways, and the Director of Operations.
In view of
the above, the Company has set out the following goals in its “Annual Plans for
Improving Health and Safety in the Workplace”:
-Reduce
health and safety risks to the minimum level possible by adopting appropriate
means of evaluation and protection of the technical, organisational and
procedural types, able to be implemented in the context company operations;
-Progressively enhance health and safety standards through continuous improvement based on: definition of measurable objectives, improvement plans, management and control systems which allow for the timely undertaking of preventative and corrective actions;
-Effect and
maintain healthy and secure working environments;
-Communicate
to the personnel the content of the company policy and inform them of various
risks associated with the carrying out of their activity;
-Provide
training to the personnel in order to increase their awareness and knowledge of
these risks, as well to encourage appropriate behaviour;
-Periodically
monitor the effectiveness of the health and safety management system, also
through the examination of its components by the company’s management, aiming
to integrate the latter with other management systems within the organisation.
